Peaks Island, Maine…. What a great place to grow up! A community of diverse peoples who take care of one another yet still welcome multitudes of summer visitors from all over the world.

Open space. Fresh air. Hiking trails thru the woods. Ponds for ice skating and hills to sled on in the winter. Beaches to play on and the cold ocean to swim in during the summer. Best of all there were few cars so we had the freedom to ride our bikes everywhere without being concerned about traffic. Island life shaped us as confident independent souls.

My Dad, a son of immigrants, was born right on the island. My Mom was a third generation islander making me fourth generation. My children are fifth generation islanders. They and my grandparents experienced a sea of change during their lifetimes as the island evolved from a popular summer resort to a major military base during WWII to the peaceful, family centered community of today.

We appreciate our island’s rich and diverse past and are most happy to share it with others. We established Peaks Island Tours in 2003 to do just that. Our cadre of guides includes family members as well as long-time islanders who are well-versed in local history.

Our tour carts have been put to bed for a much deserved winter rest. Many of our tour guides are in warmer climes for an all too brief vacation. Others are enjoying the beauty of a Maine island winter. And there is plenty to do during the colder months. A short ferry ride to Portland brings us to theatres, movies, and great restaurants. On-island there are community suppers, trivia night and burgers and football at the American Legion. Skating and ice hockey are in full swing on island ponds. With little snow so far, people are taking their daily walks or bike rides on those sunny, windless days.

At Peaks Island Tours we are busy planning for a busy season in 2019. We’ve ordered a new 8 passenger golf cart. Our schedule is being revised to include a fourth daily tour in July and August. Reservations are coming in for both group and individual tours.

Adults: $25.00
Seniors (65+): $22.00
Children (age 5-12): $11.00

Group rates available for groups of 12 or more: $15.00 per person
