WWII Military Trail Tour via Golf Cart

Specialty Tour for Up to 5 People by Prior Reservation Only

(This is not a regularly scheduled tour. It must be scheduled at least 2 weeks prior to requested date.)

During World War II Peaks Island was home to the largest and most important military base in Casco Bay. Most of the military buildings burned in a fire in 1957 but the concrete bunkers and towers remain, a testament to a dark period in our nation’s past.

Your guide leads you through the “reservation” area, pointing our sights of interest and interpreting how the war and the presence of some 800 soldiers changed the island.

This tour last approximately 2 hours and takes you along wooded paths as well as on gravel roads.  At times you'll feel like you're deep in the woods rather than on an island surrounded by sparkling blue sea.
